Liu Kang, the Mortal Kombat Legend is back in one of the baddest trailers I’ve seen in a while. My good buddy and practically brother, Brian Tee has put together a character that is similar to the Frank Miller conversion of Batman into what we know today as “The Dark Knight”. Once Brian and I talked about this new role of his and I saw the trailer, I felt compelled to do a quick blog on how sick I think this portrayal of my favorite Mortal Kombat character is. Brian describes his portrayal of Liu Kang as dark, deep, reserved and powerful, highly unlike the Liu Kang portrayals we are used to within the Mortal Kombat Franchise up till now.

What my bro had to say about this role after I astonishingly called him back praising how he portrayed Liu Kang.

I felt compelled to take this role to a much more darker place than fans would recognize with Kang. I had to figure out how to embody this iconic, now anti-Hero character and take Liu to a completely new place of depth and complexity — the grounded visceral justice that this version of Liu Kang deserves.

I’d have to say, that this version of Liu Kang is NO JOKE and Brian absolutely rocks this role. I truly wish him the best here with the second season of Mortal Kombat Legacy and all of his other big movies to come, including his next big role in “The Wolverine” where he squares off against Wolverine in a political battle based in the city of Tokyo, Japan.
